How to choose a domain name?

A domain name is the name you choose for your website. It helps if you think of the Internet as a big mall and your website site as a store in that mall. Your domain name is the name to give that store.

The biggest mistake I see people make is choosing domain names because the name has some kind of sentimental value or the name is a funny spin on words, lets face it guys that only works for huge big name companies like this one-

For the purpose of Niche Affiliate Marketing we will be choosing our domain names with SEO in mind.

You always choose your domain name with your keyword niche phrase included in it. So if your main key word is “Beginner Scrapbooking” I would try to purchase that exact domain name in a .com. .net or .org. Any thing else is not really recognizable and if you were to try to sell the site someday .com is really the way to go.

What if your Niche keyword phrase is not available in a .com?

If your keyword phrase is not available you can add a word to the end of the keyword to still have it serve its purpose for niche marketing or you could purchase the .net or .org.

For example if “Beginner Scrapbooking” was not available in a .com I would try to go with “Beginner Scrapbooking Guide.com” or “Beginner Scrapbooking Site.com” or even ” Beginner Scrapbooking ideas.com” I will not go with ” Making a scrapbook” because this name does not include my niche phrase which for this example happens to be “Beginner Scrapbooking”.

You should already have a list of keyword phrases and your main niche phrase and you should have already put those phrases through the 50-500 test and at this point you should have an idea of which niche you would be going with. The next step in our process is to purchase the domain name. There are many places where you can purchase a domain name. I will only recommend a service and a company I have always used which is “Go daddy.com”. You can find other companies by doing a search in google under “domain name companies”.

Why incude your keyword in the domain name?

For SEO purposes it will help to get you up in the search engines like faster, and bring you in more traffic. This is not the only way to get traffic to your site, but it sure helps in getting you natural search traffic and love from google.
