How to choose your keywords the 50-500 rule

Posted by Admin | November 8, 2008 .

Keyword research is the most important step in niche affiliate marketing. The keyword you choose will affect your affiliate marketing income. Why? Because the keyword you use is what will bring traffic to your site. Remember our main goal is not to pay for traffic but to have Google bring us visitors naturally, this is why I want to emphasize that you must choose your keywords carefully. You could say we will be building a love affair with Google.

How to choose keywords?

For this purpose we will decide to use a keyword by using a technique called the *50-500 rule. By this I mean when you type in a keyword phase in Google you will only consider the ones that get above 50 searches and below 500 searches. The reason why we will be using this method is simply that if a keyword gets lower than 50 searches daily it will not bring in enough visitors for us to make any kind of money with out affiliate products. And, If a keyword gets more than 500 searches the competition will be great and it will take way to long for us to get to the first page of Google.

So the goal for today would be to make a note of the keywords that have over 50 but less than 500 searches and know that these are the ones that will have the ability to make us money with affiliate marketing. We will need to have at least 20 keywords that fit this criteria. Some of you may find that the niche you originally plan to use does not have enough keywords using this method. So, if you find that you cannot come up with 20 keywords for your niche, I suggest that you choose another niche.  When it comes to working online, time means everything and you do not want to waist any time “beating an old horse” if you know what I mean. So, for today choose your keywords wisely.
