Have you every wondered why some sites rank high in the search results? Well, the answer is using good SEO techniques. You cannot just build a web page and expect to see huge amounts of traffic coming to your website if your site is not highly optimized in the search engines. Here are 5 steps to help you get your site listed on the number one page of the search engines.
1. You domain name should include your keyword. This is something I cannot stress enough. If your main keyword is “Wholesale Jewerly” your domain name should look something like this – Wholesalejewerly.com .net or .org. If your main keyword is not available you can add and additional word to it for example “wholesale jewelry warehouse.com.
2. Do your keyword research- You do not want to make a website that has too may competing sites and not enough traffic. You should be following the 50/500 rule here.
3. Know your competition- When you type your main keyword in google you should take a close look at the first 3 websites on the first page of google. If the sites have a page rank (PR) over 4, I highly advise that you discard this keyword and move on to another. High authority sites will be too hard to beat for that number one position in google. Don’t get me wrong, with hard work and some persistence you may eventually be able to bypass that site for the number one position but it will take a year or a couple of years to do so.
4. Promote Your Website. Link building or link love as some marketers like to refer to it is very important in getting high rank in the search results. You can obtain this by writing and publishing articles in ezine articles or build a squidoo lens. The more articles you write, the more links you will have pointing back to you. This step will also help you to get some immediate traffic to your website, which is an added bonus.
